Asian Grammar School has created many student leaders to the nation and continues to live up to her vision of ‘Nurturing children for the real world’. As one batch of leaders step out, another takes its place.

Asian Grammar School is an eco-friendly school that has advocated for the love of the environment since its inception. Having a strong history of projects carried out within the school including but not limited to diverse projects ranging from annual ‘Shramadhana’ campaigns to preparing a sound environment for disposal of waste around the school neighbourhood. AGS has always worked towards the betterment of the environment. “Eco Thrift” is an Annual trademark event done in affiliation with Environment Online Sri Lanka to mark the 50th birthday of the Principal, Managing Directress, founder of Asian Grammar School and President of the Association of International Schools in Sri Lanka, Mrs. Thushari Koralage.

The Sinhala and Tamil New Year Festival named ‘Bak Maha Avrudu Uthsawaya 2019’ was held at the school premises on the 2nd of April. The day was celebrated giving prominence to traditional Sri Lankan customs, moreover all the children enjoyed the day as they got themselves involved in exciting games such as climbing the grease pole, pillow fighting, road running and a variety of traditional games.

The Achievers’ Day and Colours Evening 2018 was held on the 31st of January, 2019, at the school auditorium. The grand event was graced by the Chief Guest Mr. D. P. Ranjith Dharmaguna, the Commissioner of Examinations / Evaluations (School Exams) at the Department of Examinations, Battaramulla, who awarded the prizes for academic achievements.

The Annual Inter House Athletic Meet of Asian Grammar School was held on the 25th of January 2019 at the Janaka Ranawaka Stadium, Moragasmulla, Rajagiriyia.

The Opening Ceremony of the New Building of Asian Grammar School, Matara was held on 7th January at Sunanda Mawatha, Walgama. The day was embarked with the auspicious opening by the chief guest Honorable Mayor of the Matara Municipal Council Mr. Ranjith Yasaratne who glorified the event along with pediatrician Dr. Prasanna Liyanage, Godagama Southern Expressway HQI Wasantha Liyanarachchi together with the chairman of Asian Grammar School Mr. Sumith Thennakoon, the principal Mrs. Thushari Koralage and other special invitees. The occasion was graced with the blessings from all religions.

The play group concert was held on the 29th November at the Asian Grammar school auditorium. The event was graced by Madam principal Mrs. Thushari Koralage and the head staff. The youngest preschoolers of Giggles showed off their talents making the evening yet another remarkable day filled with songs and dances, the exceptional performances of this enchanting evening included traditional dances, non stop rhymes and mesmerizing moves to popular Sri Lankan songs.

The Kindergarten Graduation of Giggles International Montessori was held on the 27th of November, 2018 at the school auditorium with the participation of the Principal and the head staff. The children of the Kindergarten who were graduated to the primary level were awarded certificates. The event was adorned with varieties of performances such as recitation of poems speeches and storytelling by the kids of the Kindergarten. The students of Grade 4 & 5 graced the event with a traditional dance.

The “Water Fun Day” of Giggles International Montessori was held on the 23rd of November, 2018 from 3.00 p.m onwards at the school swimming pool complex. Principal Mrs. Thushari Koralage and the Chairman Mr. Sumith Tennakoon participated as the Special Guests at the occasion. The event was filled with many games such as collecting marbles and balls, kick board events and various aquatic events.

The “Activity Day” of Giggles International Montessori was held on the 2nd of November, from 2.30p.m onwards at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium. Mrs.Yamuna Kumari Mahanama, the Deputy Director of Education (Administration) of Sri Jayawardenapura Education Zone graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Skilled and award winning Wushu players of Asian Grammar School, Master Deneth Akarsha & Master Kaveesh Bandara, were the guests of honour. The kids of Nursery and Kindergarten and the Education Support Center made the day quite colourful and interesting by their drill displays, wushu displays and other activities. There was also a felicitation of teachers who had given a service of 15 years to the school. The teachers along with the support of the management and prefects were able to make the event a success.

The little champs of Asian Grammar School were once again able to show their skills at the AISL Badminton Tournament organized by the Republican International School-Nuwara Eliya.

The wushu squad of Asian Grammar School was able to make great achievements at the 27th all Island Wushu Tournament held at the university of Ruhuna.

The unique gift of ‘sensitivity’ we have been bestowed with, awakens the human mind to feel, perceive and embrace the invisible beauty that surrounds him. Thus nourishing the soul of a mere ‘physical being’ with the unique ability to express himself via an assortment of ‘art’, promoting him to the state of being ‘artistic’, and crowning him with the title ‘intellectual’. In the modern civilized human society, ‘school’ happens to be the one place that exposes the ignorant young minds to the many forms of ‘performing arts’, developing awareness, enabling young individuals to discover their innate talents, specifically in music and dancing.

H T Navodi Divyanjali of Asian Grammar School has won the 1st place of Junior Section of the “State Children’s Art Competition– 2018” organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Cultural Affairs.
